    NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Feb. 22, 2022) – Damage Controlman 3rd Class Devonte R. Williams, right, from Baybridge, Georgia, and Hull Maintenance Technician 3rd Class Rebekah V. Garber, from North Vernon, Indiana, both assigned to engineering department aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), perform sounding and security roves during a general quarters drill. George Washington is undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a multi-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades, and modernization.
