Five Georgia Air National Guardsmen from the 165th Airlift Wing Operations Group attended the 'Accelerating the Legacy' event, which was hosted by Joint Base Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina Feb 18-19, 2022. This event was a showcase to honor the legacy of the heroic Tuskegee Airmen by honoring the past, developing the present and promoting the future. There were 15 different airframes from 12 total force bases across the country that attended this historic event. To commemorate Black History Month, the 165th AW flew to the event with its first ever all-black crew. The names of the crew members were Col. Sheldon Wilson (pilot), Capt. Thessa Washington (pilot), Capt. Ranon Barber (navigator), Master Sgt. Wayne Scott (flight engineer) and Senior Airman Christopher Wade (loadmaster). (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Tech Sgt.
