U. S. Air National Guard Members assigned to the 127th Wing prepare to load a Miniature Air-Launched decoy, MALD, onto an A-10 Thunderbolt II at Volk Field Air National Guard Base, Wis., Mar. 1, 2022. The MALD is currently operational on the F-16 Fighting Falcon and the B-52 Stratofortress. If the U.S. Air Force approves the MALD for the A-10 Thunderbolt II, it would be an unprecedented first for an A-10 Thunderbolt to utilize a munition system of this type.
