Soldiers from the 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI) took part in a spur ride consisting of events, including land navigation, weapon disassembly and reassembly, vehicle recovery, and medical training in order to be inducted into the "Order of the Spur," at Fort Drum, N.Y., June 22-23, 2021. A spur ride is a United States Army cavalry tradition that stems from the beginning of the American Cavalry when Soldiers, new to their units, had to prove their mettle and skills as true cavalry troopers.
