U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Joshua Jonesia, an infantry squad leader with Battalion Landing Team 1/5 (BLT), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), calls out the course of fire to Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion 31 (CLB) on the flight deck of the USS Ashland (LSD 48) in the Philippine Sea, Mar. 3, 2022. Marines with CLB 31 conducted a deck shoot to maintain maritime proficiency and readiness. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners, and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
