JUNEAU, Alaska (March 7, 2022) Aviation Aerographer’s Mate 1st Class Michael Huelsing and Aviation Aerographer’s Mate 1st Class Howell Walls, both assigned to Naval Oceanography Mine Warfare Center (NOMWC), launch a Mark 18 Mod I Swordfish unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) to conduct a mine countermeasures survey in the Gastineau Channel near Juneau, Alaska, during Exercise ARCTIC EDGE 2022 (AE22), March 7, 2022. AE22 is a biennial defensive exercise for U.S. Northern Command and Canadian Armed Forces designed to demonstrate and exercise our ability to rapidly deploy and operate in the Arctic.
