MAYPORT, Fla. - (March 17, 2022) – Peruvian navy Lt. Cmdr. Maria Belen Canales, Deputy Secretary of the Inter-American Naval Telecommunications Network (IANTN) Secretariat, left, briefs her department on current operations at U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet headquarters, March 17, 2022. Canales assumed the role of deputy secretary on Feb. 19, 2022. Established in 1962, IANTN’s mission is to maintain a permanent link among naval authorities of the Americas. U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command hosts the multi-national IANTN staff, which oversees IANTN detachments and operations centers in 18 partner nations in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
