NORFOLK (March 23, 2022) - Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Russell Smith gives advice to Master-at-Arms Second Class Kelsea Malone after her meritorious advancement on the mess decks of the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), March 23, 2022. MCPON Smith visited Norfolk, Va., to meet with local commands to engage with Sailors to discuss their concerns, quality of life issues, and champion Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. Mike Gilday's ‘Get Real, Get Better initiative’. Get Real, Get Better is a call to action for every Navy leader to apply a set of Navy-proven leadership and problem-solving best practices that empower our people to achieve exceptional performance. Wasp is currently in a dry-dock selected restricted availability (DSRA) at BAE Shipyards as part of a planned maintenance period.
