NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (April 10, 2022) – Capt. Brent C. Gaut, left, from Stockton, California, the commanding officer of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), poses for a photo with members of the Sillins family and leaders of the Jewish Community Centers and Jewish Community Camps Association of North America before a Torah rededication and Ark inauguration ceremony in the commanding officer’s in-port cabin aboard the ship. George Washington is undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a multi-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades, and modernization.
