220401-N-VH871-1259 NAVAL AIR STATION WHIDBEY ISLAND, Washington (April. 1, 2022) A P-8A Poseidon aircraft assigned to the "Grey Knights" of Patrol Squadron (VP) 46 takes off from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island on its way to a regularly scheduled deployment to the U.S. Fifth and Sixth Fleet Areas of Responsibility, April 1, 2022. VP-46 is currently forward-deployed to the U.S. Fifth and Sixth Fleet areas of responsibility and is assigned to Commander, Task Force 57 and 67, respectfully, responsible for tactical control of deployed maritime patrol and reconnaissance squadrons throughout Europe and Africa.
