Steve Penn, a resident of Kodiak Island, climbs a hill on Afognak Island, Alaska, on Oct. 13, 2021. Penn is a lifelong hunter and has resided in the state for nearly 30 years. While off duty, Senior Airman Brady Penn, 349th Air Mobility Wing, puts his readiness skills to good use, during an elk registration hunt on Afognak Island, Alaska, Oct. 14, 2021. During their hunt Penn and his father managed to survive an attack by a Kodiak Grizzly bear.
