Fort Sill Fire and Emergency Services provided mutual aid to assist Sterling V.F.D. with controlling a rapidly growing wind fueled grass fire Dec. 28, 2021. Fort Sill’s operational assignments were structure protection and offensive fire attack. Fire crews along with other V.F.D.s successfully protected numerous structures from the fast moving grass fire. Beaver Creek and multiple wheat fields stopped fire spread. Fire consumed approximately 1,000 acres and at least one structure was lost. (Courtesy of Fort Sill DES)
