A Joint Task Force-Bravo CH-47 Chinook from the 1st Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment, is washed during a corrosion control inspection April 22, 2022, at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras. The Bravo Company “Sugar Bears” of the 1-228th are the only five Chinooks assigned to the U.S. Southern Command area of operations. They provide heavy lift rotary wing support for humanitarian aid and disaster relief missions, including air movement of personnel and equipment, aerial firefighting, search and rescue, helocast operations, hoist, rappelling, mobile forward arming and refueling, and paradrop operations.
