Crew members assemble the "bambi" water bucket on a Nebraska Army National Guard UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter after arriving in McCook, Neb., April 23, 2022. The National Guard activated 26 Army National Guard soldiers and 6 Air National Guard airmen with ground and aerial firefighting assets at the request of local authorities and approval of Governor Pete Ricketts after several wildfires ignited in southern and western Nebraska the previous day. Within 12 hours of activation, the helicopter crews of two UH-60s and one UH-72 completed 55 water drops totaling 35,000 gallons of water in support of firefighters on the ground in numerous locations.
