FORT CARSON, Colo. (April 25, 2022) U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Jeff Van, left, Joint Task Force Civil Support commanding general, discusses how JTF-CS works together with various local, state, and federal agencies to respond to a catastrophic manmade or natural disaster with U.S. Army Maj. Gen. William Prendergast, the commander of Contingency Command Post 1, Task Force 51, for U.S. Army North, second from right, and exercise observer/controllers during Vibrant Response 22, April 25, 2022. Joint Task Force Civil Support conducts chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear response and all-hazards defense support to civil authorities operations in support of the lead federal agency in order to save lives, mitigate human suffering, and prevent further injury. Vibrant Response is an annual U.S. Army North, U.S. Northern Command directed Command Post Exercise planned in coordination with DoD, Department of Homeland Security, FEMA and other federal and state partners.
