U.S. Marines and Sailors with Wounded Warrior Regiment conduct a hike on the Appalachian Trail from Bluemont, Virginia to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, April 27, 2022. The event took two days to complete, and required the hikers to bivouac at the David Lesser Memorial Shelter for the night before continuing on their trek.
The hike was executed in order to build camaraderie and foster the warrior spirit within these Marines and Sailors, while promoting health and wellness for service members recovering from physical and mental health challenges. At the culmination of the hike, the Marines and Sailors shared a meal together to celebrate their accomplishment. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Kedrick Schumacher)
