The Fort Dix rappel tower is used to safely practice rappelling down a 60-foot wall. Rappel training is designed to prepare soldiers for missions where they may be required to fast-rope from a helicopter, scale cliff sides and other rough terrain, or gain entry to multi-level buildings in an urban environment. In addition to recreational uses, first responders along with military personnel utilize rappel towers as part of their tactical training. (Photos taken by the Fort Dix [TSC] Training Support Center)
