U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, and Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, set up shelter for Mission Rehearsal Littoral Exercise 2022 at Combined Arms Training Center, Camp Fuji, Japan, May 8, 2022. The purpose of the MRLEX was to conduct an airfield survey of an existing aircraft landing zone for infrastructure improvement, runway repair and preparation of potential forward arming and refueling points, as well as progress integration initiatives with our Japanese allies while advancing III Marine Expeditionary Force’s and Marine Corps Installations Pacific’s goals tied to agile combat employment, expeditionary advanced base operations, and humanitarian assistance disaster relief.
