SASEBO, Japan (April 14, 2022) Airman Timothy Chon, from Louisville, Ky., assigned to the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), speaks to Master Chief Electrician’s Mate Doug Stevenson, from Atlantic, Penn., about the manning for Chon’s new rate as an aviation support equipment technician during a Professional Apprenticeship Career Track Rodeo hosted by Navy Personnel Command’s Fleet Engagement Team at the base chapel onboard U.S. Fleet Activities Sasebo. The NPC Fleet Engagement Team traveled from Millington, Tennessee, to meet with PACT Sailors stationed at commands throughout Japan to provide career counseling, designate ratings and negotiate orders on the spot. America, lead ship of the America Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
