The Combat Logistics Battalion from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit launch combat rubber raiding crafts from the well deck aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46) during Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX). PHIBLEX is an annual bilateral exercise held in conduction with the armed forces of the Philippines and is designed to improve interoperability, increase readiness and develop professional and personal relationships between U.S. and Philippine forces. Tortuga, commanded by Cmdr. John Barnett, is part of the only forward-deployed amphibious ready group and is currently operating in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
