SAN DIEGO (May 13, 2022) Rear Adm. Eric Peterson, Naval Medical Forces Command, Atlantic's deputy commander and deputy director Navy Nurse Corps (center), along with the most senior (left) and most junior (right) nurse corps officers, both assigned to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) San Diego, in attendance, cut a cake during a Navy Nurse Corps 114th birthday cake cutting ceremony at the hospital May 13. The Navy Nurse Corps was established May 13, 1908, after the signing of the Appropriations bill by President Theodore Roosevelt. NMRTC San Diego’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMRTC San Diego employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians, and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
