Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handler) Airman Apprentice Nicholas Vilardo, from Bayonne, N.J., operates the hangar bay elevator of amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5) off the coast of Timor-Leste. San Diego-based Peleliu is currently visiting the country of Timor-Leste and is the flagship for the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group. The ship is currently on a deployment with amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) and amphibious dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47), with 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit embarked throughout the three ships.
