SAN DIEGO (May 13, 2022) – Command Master Chief of Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93) Josephine Tauoa, from American Samoa, poses for a photo to promote Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Chung-Hoon’s namesake, Gordon Chung-Hoon, was a Chinese-American Naval Academy graduate who was awarded the Navy Cross for his leadership as commanding officer of USS Sigsbee (DDG 502) during a World War II kamikaze attack in 1945.
