Sailors and Marines man the rails of the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) as the ship leaves San Francisco at the conclusion of San Francisco Fleet Week 2012. San Francisco Fleet Week was scheduled from Oct. 3-8 and brought more than 2,500 sailors, Marines and Coast guardsmen from four ships to the city of San Francisco in order to highlight the personnel, technology and capabilities of the sea services.
