The memorial ceremony commemorated the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attack of the ship and remembered the 17 sailors lost and the 37 injured in the blast. Cole, homeported out of Norfolk, Va., is on a scheduled deployment conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility.
