Sgt. Mayra Perez-Velasquez, Headquarters Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 142nd Field Artillery Brigade, was promoted by Arkansas National Guard Land Component Commander Col. Tony Shepherd who visited the gun line for the Multi Launch Rocket System (MLRS) during the live fire exercise Operation Razorback Thunder 2022 at Fort Chaffee, Ark., May 20, 2022.
Perez-Velasquez, a native of Guatemala, emigrated from San Marcos-Tacana to Arkansas in 2011. Guatemala has been Arkansas' State Partnership Program country for more than 20 years.
