YOKOSUKA, Japan—On May 20 NMRTC Yokosuka and the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) held a Bilateral Joint Mass Casualty Drill. The exercise scenario simulated a 8.0 magnitude earthquake affecting the Kanto Plain and gave opportunities for both the United States and Japanese forces to quickly adapt, process and treat patients in a real world setting, while developing the integral partnerships needed to face catastrophic events. These types of drills act as a platform to maintain our proficiencies of patient care, force readiness and the projection of medical power.
