Meadows Elementary School students interact with a remote-controlled, heavy-duty robot at the annual career day event, May 20. The device was brought out by Soldiers of 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. The robot is used to disarm improvised explosive devices and uses radio signals to conduct recon.
Meadows Elementary School’s location within the Fort Hood community, and educating children of military families, allowed this event to not only display the various civilian careers, but also the diverse range of Army career fields. Meadows was allowed to have speakers for its annual career day in the school for the first time since 2020, when the event was cancelled due to Covid-19.
