85th Engineering Installation Squadron honors police week, gold star Airman
Members of the 85th Engineering Installation Squadron participated in Keesler Air force Base Police Week ruck march honoring fallen security forces members and OSI agents.
The event was especially meaningful for members of the 85th as one of the unit’s current members, Airman 1st Class Joshua Balmer, is a gold star child. Balmer’s father, Special Agent Ryan Balmer, was killed in Iraq in 2007 from an IED blast.
Although Balmer was only eight years old at the time, he knew from that moment he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and become an Airman. Members of the 85th showed support to Airman 1st Class Balmer and his father by participating in a 4.5 mile ruck to honor the sacrifices Special Agent Balmer and all of our fallen servicemen and women have made over the years.
