Jacksonville, Fla. (May 26, 2022) Electronics Technician (Navigation) 3rd Class Justin Erwin helps a child place a flag on a grave at the Jacksonville National Cemetery in preparation for Memorial Day. Military personnel and civilians gathered to place approximately 22,000 flags in preparation for a Memorial Day observance ceremony. On July 17th, 1862, President Abraham Lincoln signed legislation authorizing the federal government to purchase ground for use as national cemeteries.
