The Iowa Adjutant General presided over the ceremony, which was held during the annual command retreat. Adams has served in several positions in the Iowa Army National Guard both domestically and overseas, and most recently deployed as the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division commander in Kosovo.
