Congresswoman Elaine Luria, from Virginia’s Second Congressional District, provides some remarks during an unveiling and dedication of a Virginia Historical Marker honoring Filipino Sailors in the U.S. Navy on May 28, 2022. The event occurred at the Philippine Cultural Center of Virginia in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was one of the first women in the Navy’s nuclear power program and among the first to serve the entirety of her career aboard combatant ships.
