U.S. Marines with 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, retreat the colors during the Memorial Day ceremony at the Semper Fi Marine Monument in San Clemente, California, May 30, 2022. The city of San Clemente adopted 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, in 1996. The Heritage of San Clemente Foundation donated a plaque with the names of the 13 service members killed during the attack at Abbey Gate in Kabul in August 2021, and presented the plaque during the ceremony.
