The event commemorates the first Air National Guard Unit in California to host an Inaugural Women Veterans Day, and recognizes the Air National Guard 129th Rescue Wing for leading the way in recognizing and honoring the contributions of women who serve in the military.
The first Women Veterans Day was celebrated on June 12, 2018, to recognize the Women's Armed Services Integration Act. The date is not recognized nationally, but is recognized by a number of states, either through legislation or proclamation, and organizations.
