Atop Mt. Suribachi stands a monument dedicated to the lives lost during the Battle of Iwo Jima, on Iwo To, Japan, May 31, 2022. Mt. Suribachi is the island's most prominent feature and was the site of the famous U.S. Marine Corps flag raising on February 23, 1945.
