A U.S. Marine with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) fires an M249 light machine gun down range on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, June 13, 2022. Marines applied their knowledge of M249 light machine gun and the M240B weapon systems on the range in order to maintain proficiency and lethality. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps' only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
