U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Joseph R. Clearfield, deputy commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific, presents a gift to Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste Capt. Higina Das Neves, Chief of Navy Timor – Leste, during a bilateral meeting at the eighth iteration of the Pacific Amphibious Leaders Symposium in Tokyo, Japan, June 14, 2022. PALS consists of discussions and presentations which facilitate meaningful dialogue on key aspects of amphibious operations, capability development, crisis response and interoperability. This year’s symposium brought together senior leaders from 18 participating delegations who are committed to a free and open Indo-Pacific, with the objective of strengthening and developing regional relationships.
