Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. David H. Berger, gives virtual remarks during the opening ceremony for eighth iteration of the Pacific Amphibious Leaders Symposium 2022, Tokyo, Japan, June 14, 2022. PALS was co-hosted by U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force in order to enhance amphibious interoperability, crisis response capabilities, and mutual friendships with senior leaders from across the Indo-Pacific. This year’s symposium brought together senior leaders from 18 participating delegations who are committed to a free and open Indo-Pacific, with the objective of strengthening and developing regional relationships.
