These NJARNG Soldiers from the 328th MP Battalion are on Range 40 for their M2HB MK19 Qualification. This qualification is completed with a team which includes an observer and a soldier manning the M240 machine gun which goal is to hit the target down range. The MK19 is a belt-fed, blowback-operated, air-cooled, crew-served, fully-automatic weapon. The M2HB fires the 12.7x99mm round at a cyclic rate of fire of about 550 rounds per minute. Depending on the mount the maximum effective range is 1.8 km. A variety of ammunition types can be fired. The barrel can be changed in case it becomes too hot.
