Airmen assigned to the 184th Security Forces Squadron tested their combat skills during Exercise Tinman at Smoky Hill Weapons Range in early June. Airmen practiced tactical convoy, land navigation, improvised explosive device recognition, and directed helicopter evacuations during the three-day exercise. The realistic, intense training scenarios prepared Airmen for situations they may face in a combat environment. The squadron teamed up with the 22nd Air Refueling Wing’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal team to practice locating and neutralizing explosive devices. The squadron also coordinated medical evacuations with the Kansas Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 111st Aviation Regiment (Medevac). Other members of the 184th Wing acted as enemy forces to add realism to the training.
