An obelisk on the bluff above Omaha beach is inscribed with the symbol of the 1st Infantry Division. It memorializes the soldiers who died to take the beach below, and their names are etched on it's sides. This year marked the 78th anniversary the D-day invasion of June 6, 1944 Soldiers and civilians alike came to pay their respects and remember the sacrifices of those who fought and died for freedom.
