Mohammad, a former interpreter for American forces in Afghanistan, poses for a photo in Afghanistan in September 2021. Mohammad was supposed to depart Afghanistan on a Special Immigrant Visa days after the fall of the Afghan government. The chaos that swept the nation after the fall of the government prevented his departure. A group of former Fort George G. Meade Asymmetric Warfare Group Soldiers, who work with the non-profit Tarjorman, were able to help Mohammad navigate the visa process and welcomed him to Maryland. (Courtesy photo)
