LEWISVILLE, Texas (June 9, 2022) A view of grassland below the Lewisville Lake Dam showing growth three months after a wildfire March 2, 2022. A prescribed fire was initiated at the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area at Lewisville Lake in an effort to create, restore, and revitalize prairies below the Lewisville Dam. This fire was assumed to be controlled prior to 12 p.m., but due to wind and weather condition changes, that fire escaped its intended area. Firefighters from Flower Mound, Frisco and several other surrounding cities responded to mutual aid requests with brush trucks to help contain and extinguish the blaze. The fire was out by 8 p.m. the same day. Photo by Nicholas Wilson. (Released)
