SAN DIEGO (June 16, 2022) – Chief Hospital Corpsman Adrian Brown, left, and Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Aneisy Betancourt cut a cake during an anniversary celebration of the Hospital Corpsman rate aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), June 16. The Hospital Corpsman rate was established 124 years ago on June 17, 1898 by President William McKinley. Makin Island is a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship homeported in San Diego.
