U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Freddie Martinez, the commanding officer for 3rd Maintenance Battalion, 3rd Sustainment Group (Experimental) passes the new company guidon to Chief Warrant Officer 2 Michael Castilla-Martinez, the company commander for Regional Maintenance Operations Company, during an activation ceremony, Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, June 23, 2022. The ceremony officially redesignated Materiel Readiness Company-North to Regional Maintenance Operations Company, improving 3rd SGX’s ability to provide efficient and effective maintenance, in line with Marine Corps Force Design 2030. 3rd MLG, based out of Okinawa, Japan, is a forward deployed combat unit that serves as III Marine Expeditionary Force’s comprehensive logistics and combat service support backbone for operations throughout the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.
