    Commander, Navy Recruiting Command

    CDR Moss is a native of Youngstown, OH and received his commission through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Program while attending Miami University in May 2007. Immediately following graduation, he reported to USS MOBILE BAY (CG 53), serving as the Main Propulsion Division Officer and Auxiliary Officer. While there he qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer and deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. He next served as the Fire Control Officer aboard USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DDG 53).

    Following his operational assignments, he served as a Division Officer and Officer Recruiter for Navy Recruiting District Pittsburgh, stationed in Morgantown, WV. During that assignment, he was selected for lateral transfer into the Human Resources Community in August of 2013. His Human Resources Officer tours include Recruiting Operations Officer at Navy Recruiting District Phoenix, Commanding Officer of the Memphis Military Entrance Processing Station, and Human Resources Officer Assignment Deputy Branch Head, Navy Personnel Command (PERS-4421).

    His military education includes the Joint Professional Military Education Course from the Naval War College. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio; Master’s of Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California; and Professional in Human Resources Certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute.

    CDR Moss’s military awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, four Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and numerous unit and service medals and ribbons.
