Lt. Col. Dianna Lively, deputy commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, looks on as Rep. Doris Matsui (CA-06) speaks with Michael Connor, assistant secretary of the Army for civil works, during a visit to Folsom Dam Dike 8 in Folsom, California, June 28, 2022. Connor visited the USACE Sacramento District, which raised Dike 8 by 3.5 feet in 2020, to better understand the flood control infrastructure in the Sacramento area and how the district has been partnering with state and local agencies to improve this infrastructure over the last few decades. Planned improvements to the rest of Folsom Dam include 3.5-foot raises of Dikes 1-7, the Left and Right Wing Dams, and Mormon Island Auxiliary Dam, as well as adding top seals and strengthening the gates on the Main Dam.
