APRA HARBOR, Guam (July 1, 2022) – Senior Chief Petty Officer Yeoman Nick Shortal, assigned to the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Asheville (SSN 758), embraces his family after the submarine returns home to U.S. Naval Base Guam following a regularly-scheduled deployment. Asheville is forward-deployed to the island of Guam and routinely operates in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility, conducting maritime security operations and supporting national security interests.
