The 100th Security Forces Squadron adopts “Miss Irish” a KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft named after the historic 100th Bomb Group B-17 Flying Fortress famous for it’s unlikely return, Royal Air Force Mildenhall, England, July 29, 2022. Miss Irish (B-17) was struck by flak during a mission over France causing a large chunk of the aircraft to be exposed, and most of its parachutes to be lost. Miraculously the plane landed with all but one crew member alive earning it the name “Miss Irish”. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Nicholas Swift)
