FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (July 30, 2022) The official party including Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro, ship’s sponsor Meredith A. Berger, Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. Eric M. Smith, and Commanding Officer Capt. James Quaresimo take the platform during the ships commissioning ceremony. LPD 28 is the 12th San Antonio-class amphibious dock landing ship to enter the fleet and the first named after the city of Fort Lauderdale.
